LOST IT is a short film exploring the blurred line between reality and the subconscious in the aftermath of grief.
Visually, the film draws inspiration from the psychological intensity of Persona and Black Swan, with a tonal undercurrent reminiscent of Repulsion.
Starring indie-film darling Samantha Robinson, LOST IT explores how relationships can unravel — and how they can find their way back in unexpected ways.
The photography in the film is inspired the work of photographers Sally Mann, Nan Goldin, and Lee Miller.
THE rise of AI, HUMAN disconnection, phone addiction, and the perpetual anxiety of the 24-hour news cycle IS ENOUGH TO DRIVE ANYONE MAD.
This ANGST, unique to today’s world, is the backdrop of LOST IT.
Primarily shot in the subjective first-person point of view, the camera will shift between ELLE’s subconscious mind and physical reality. While the story takes place in a single location, the filmmaking itself is anything but small.
We plan to shoot a seven-minute continuous shot that brings together the cast and thirty extras. We’re bringing this story to life with an incredible Los Angeles–based cast and crew, and we’re set to shoot at the end of March.

LOST IT is about a descent into madness... and the beauty that lies on the other side of it.
I am deeply inspired by films like REPULSION, PERSONA, and BLACK SWAN, but I have always been unsatisfied with the central conflicts displayed in these classic works: antagonistic, psychological battles between women. I wondered, is it possible to make a haunting and surreal film that mirrors female relationships in a more satisfying light? This was where the story of LOST IT began to take form.
I want to explore paranoia through the female lens, one that integrates a nuanced and fresh perspective of grief. The guilt, self-blame, and worthlessness experienced after a loss can make anyone feel like they are "losing it," and while many have endeavored to show the hostility and delusion that can result from these emotions, I plan to show how female friendships can strengthen and grow in these moments of unraveling.

INSPIRATION
The film’s aesthetic & tone pull from the surrealist imagery of Gertrude Abercrombie & Salvador Dalí, classic and modern films such Black Swan, Repulsion, 3 Women, and L’Âge d’Or, and the photography of Sally Mann & Lee Miller.
THE TEAM
Our team has worked on everything from independent features to major blockbusters – with films appearing in top tier festivals like Sundance, SXSW & more. LOST IT will be both a SAG and DGA project.

Eve Van Dyke is an Emmy award winning filmmaker and writer who works across non-fiction and fiction.
Starting her career in music videos, she now works across narrative, documentary, and commercial projects. After living in Mexico City as a Fulbright scholar she moved on to work with The New York Times and VICE on HBO where she won an Emmy Award in 2019 for Zero Tolerance, a documentary about the family separation crisis on the U.S/Mexico border. Her documentaryPausewas selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick and Route to Connection, a short for AT&T which she also served as Executive Producer, is now streaming on Amazon Prime. It premiered at Tribeca and was nominated for a 2025 Webby Award. In 2023 she directed two episodes of SHADOWLAND for Radical Media which aired on Peacock.
In 2024 she completed a mentorship under Emmy award-winning director Karyn Kusama as part of the DGA Squad program. Her narrative short film REJECTORS (2019), premiered at the Oscar-qualifying festival Hollyshorts and DIGESTIF (2021) premiered at the Austin Film Festival. Her screenplay for BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, was selected for the 2025 Tribeca Creators Market. Her other scripted work has been selected for the Gotham TV Series Lab and placed in the Academy Nicholl fellowship.
